Hilary Duff is set to release a new single in May, called "Any Other Day", which will serve as the lead single from the soundtrack to one of her new films, "What Goes Up".It is unknown who the producer of the track is, but it could be J.Y.Park, who recently confirmed that he's working on new music for Hilary, as well as working on new projects for Lil' Kim, Lil' Jon, OutKast and 3LW.The 21-year-old star is still currently unsigned, after leaving former label Hollywood Records, and her new single will be released through independant label Amherst Records.

Jessica Simpson: To Record A Pop Album

It has been confirmed that Jessica Simpson is no longer represented by Sony Nashville. A representative for Jessica insists the arrangement with the company was only temporary and will now focus her attentions on Pop. The spokesperson said: "She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album. She is and has always been an Epic artist and continues to be on Epic's label.

"Although Jessica's re-launch as a country artist in 2008 was controversial, particularly among the genre's traditionalists, who didn't like her Pop star past, her album "Do You Know" reached number one in the US country charts and sold over 100,000 copies. At the time she said: "I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas and country music was what I listened to. I think there is a strength in female country artists."

It sounds like Christina Aguilera could be getting ready for her big movie-screen close-up!

Here’s what we’re told is going down with our favorite “Dirrty” pop singer: Xtina is interested in possibly starring in Burlesque, a Screen Gems movie about a modern-day burlesque dancer, according to sources.

Though it’s still not clear how far along talks may be and if Aguilera has even read for the part, here are the current details…

Steve Antin not only wrote the original script, but he’ll reportedly direct the flick, too. Antin certainly knows about scantily-clad dancers—he’s worked on several projects with his sister, Pussycat Dolls impresario Robin Antin.

A source also tells my E! News pal Giuliana Rancic that Dancing With the Stars’ blond bombshell Julianne Hough is chatting with producers about costarring alongside Xtina as a pregnant showgirl.

The studio is said to be shooting for a January 2010 start date for Burlesque. A rep for the studio confirmed the movie is in development, but said it’s “too preliminary to comment on” casting.

That’s not the only Julianne movie scoop I have for you. She’s also up for a role in the Footloose remake, according to sources. Even though a rep for the movie denied Hough is in talks, let’s just picture it now—Julianne fancy-footworking with Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford.

Hough recently told me that she definitely plans on pursuing acting work in the future. “But one step at time,” she said at the Academy of Country Music Awards. “I’m just focused on the music right now because that will always be my base.”

Reps for Aguilera and Hough did not comment.

Danity Kane Is Officially Over For Good.

In tonight's episode, Diddy told Aundrea and Dawn that he let Shannon,Aubrey, and D.Woods out of their contract and they are no longer will be associated with Danity Kane and move on with their separate lives and careers. He also let go Aundrea on tonight's episode of Making The Band and kept Dawn as a solo artist and sign on his record deal and there is a slight chance Danity Kane might be back with ONLY Dawn in it but Diddy seems unsure about it and doesn't want to pursue another girl group after the disaster of what happened to Danity Kane and to me that is a slim chance of happening. I see it in Dawn's face, she is happy she is the only one to be kept around and doesn't care about Danity Kane being back together at all. Basically, I was right the group is officially over and there is no chance of Danity Kane reuniting or coming back to record new albums and do performances together, its over for good. It's not sure if all of them are coming back on next week part 2 of season finale to confirm this and address their fans on this issue. Oh well, it sucks but I guess the next group to get the boot will be Day 26 and Donnie Klang. Nothing with Diddy will last long. If this is a publicity stunt then great but I doubt it is, it doesn't seem like to be a publicity stunt.

Kanye West Working With 30 Seconds To Mars On New Album

Regular readers of Kanye West's blog are probably aware that the man is obsessed with fancy sneakers, all things sleek and tech-y and posting borderline-creepy paeans to women he'd like to bed (they're probably also aware that, thanks to the makers of "South Park," he can never eat in a Cheesecake Factory again). Oh, and it's not exactly news when he posts a photo of himself in the studio, since he's seemingly always working with someone, somewhere.
But on Tuesday, when West posted a picture of himself with Killers frontman Brandon Flowers and 30 Seconds to Mars main man Jared Leto, it surprised even the most faithful of his fans. This wasn't your everyday Kanye collabo, after all.
"I was working on this dope-ass song with Jared and Brandon stopped by. I played them some of the new Jeezy beats, and before everybody bounced, Brandon hopped on the keyboard and I hopped on the MPC [sampler]" West wrote. "Sh-- was dope. Oh, and yes, those are Swarovski crystals on Brandon's shirt, by Dries Van Noten."
It is a pretty impressive shirt. Anyway, the post raised a rather interesting question: Why was Jared Leto in the studio with Kanye West? Last we checked, 30 Seconds to Mars were working with noted British producer Flood on their new album — the same album currently being held up by a rather contentious (and costly) lawsuit with their former label, Virgin/EMI.
So, we decided to reach out to 30STM's management to try and get to the bottom of it all, and here's what they told us: Kanye and Leto were working on a song for the upcoming 30 Seconds to Mars album, which will be released later this year.
There was no further comment given (and no one seems to know why Flowers was there), but the news of a Kanye/Leto collaboration is certainly interesting ... and it's a glimmer of hope for long-suffering 30STM fans out there, still waiting for the follow-up to the band's breakthrough 2005 effort, A Beautiful Lie.
Not to mention, it's more proof that you learn something new from Kanye West's blog every single day.
